LINKKI, a kinetic toy

LINKKI is a construction kit and STEAM learning tool for kinetic/robotic design. Its simple, modular and gender-neutral design lowers the entrance barrier to STEM learning and allows users to play and learn seamlessly across art and science. Since it was designed in 2015, a number of workshops and exhibitions have been organized with LINKKI in Finland and abroad.

링키는 움직임 디자인을 위한 빌딩 블록이자 키네틱/로보틱 움직임과 관련한 STEAM 교육 교재이기도 합니다. 단순하고, 모듈형의, 직관적이고 중성적인 디자인은 사용자의 기술에 대한 진입장벽을 낮추고, 예술-기술이 긴밀히 융합된 만들기와 놀기의 경험을 만듭니다. 링키는 2015년 디자인된 이후 다양한 콘텐츠의 실험적인 워크숍과 전시가 이루어지고 있는 현재 진행형 작업입니다.

Features

Design

LINKKI uses flat linkage mechanism. Limiting parts to only bars and a circle, It simplifies the construction process and users get to feel constructing a mechanism is just like drawing on the paper.

링키는 평면 링키지 기반의 단순한 키네틱 토이로, 다양한 사이즈의 직선형 부품과 한 개의 원형 부품으로 이루어져 있습니다. 사용자들은 마치 스케치북에 드로잉을 하듯이 직관적으로 움직임을 디자인 할 수 있습니다.

Activity

A variety of activities around LINKKI have been developed through more than 10 workshops worldwide. Examples include activities involved with storytelling, drawing and typography design with more coming along.

링키를 이용한 다양한 활동이 국내외의 워크숍을 통해 개발되고 있으며, 이와 함께 워크북 또한 출간하고 있습니다. 앞으로도 추가적인 만들기/놀기의 경험이 개발될 예정입니다.

Learning

Movement is becoming more and more important design language in the fast-changing world. LINKKI has been used as a teaching material for university courses and interdisciplinary workshops.

움직임 디자인은 급변하는 세계에서 점점 더 중요한 디자인 언어가 되어가고 있습니다. 링키는 다양한 학제와 관련성을 갖으며, 대학교의 디자인 수업과 어린이와 일반 사용자를 위한 융합 워크숍에서 교재로 이용되고 있습니다.

Art

The modularity of LINKKI make it as an artistic material to create a kinetic/robotic installation. Multiple installations had been created using LINKKI and exhibited in major art venues.

링키 보드와 부품은 모듈 형식으로 되어있으며, 다양한 외부 재료와 호환이 가능합이다. 이러한 개방형 도구로서의 특성 때문에 링키는 예술 창작의 재료로 사용되곤 합니다. 링키를 이용한 키네틱 설치 작업들이 제작되어 헬싱키 디자인위크를 비롯한 주요 전시회에서 선보인 바 있습니다.
